We are a group of friends & professionals – Aaron Perna, David Brooks, and Tal Kazaz – Israeli and American, who aim to assist with supporting Israel’s civilian population during these difficult days of war and uncertainty.
We came to know each other a few months earlier in 2023, when Tal – working in the tourism industry – planned and led a trip in Israel with David, Aaron, and Karen (Perna, Aaron’s mother). Remaining in contact, David, Aaron, and Karen (like many other amazing friends from around the world) reached out after October 7th, offering their condolences on the horrible events, and any support they could give.
Tal lives in Kibbutz Dan, close to the Northern Israeli-Lebanese border (2 miles in proximity), and is evacuated from his home due to the war. All previously booked business activities in tourism have been cancelled and he became immediately jobless. Like countless others in the country he went volunteering when the war began, and saw the need of connecting important civilian projects with the wonderful friends and partners reaching out to help. The amount of support – financial and other – that Israel has already received from our broader family and friends around the world has been heartwarming and immensely strengthening.
This combination – knowing the needs on the ground and organizations catering those need, along with knowing many people wanting to help and assist in any relevant way possible – is what led to the creation of Supporting-Israel. We have joined our efforts, knowledge, and contacts towards supporting the home-front in Israel, understanding that providing the means for these initiatives is essential for the Israeli public to endure and prevail in the current state of war.
